The 25 Fontes basin sits at the bottom of the Rabacal valley, fed by springs coming straight out of the rock face, and the walk in follows a levada for most of an hour each way. “A great walk in the Levada to the 25 Fontes. Our guide, Pedro, was knowledgeable about plants, birds and the history of the Levadas. We stopped on the way for coffee at a lovely local cafe. We had an exciting walk through a 1km tunnel, which needed a torch. It was a moderate walk- mostly flat but with some steps to climb. A great experience. Would recommend.”
